North Wind Radio

About this website and its’ author…As a registered volunteer at Kingston’s ‘Great Lakes Museum’ and an Advanced Amateur Radio operator. I was priviledged to be assigned the task of esatblishing both the Amateur Radio station VA3VGC onboard SS Keewatin, as well as staging a wonderful display of early Marconi radio equipment gifted to Great Lakes Museum by the Toronto Maritime Museum archives. So this website showcases not only my lifetime fascination with the world of Amateur Radio, but also some of the very earliest of Marconi’s radio technology as part of Canada’s heritage in the development of radiotelegraph communication on the Great Lakes.

Here in Kingston ON, our city also celebrates a rich heritage within our Canadian Armed Forces. Presented here you will find further information regarding the ‘Canadian Forces Affiliated Radio Service’ (CFARS), and the ‘Military Communications & Electronics Museum’ on the military base at CFB Kingston where we also have the Amateur Radio station VE3RCS, celebrating the Royal Canadian Signals Corp.

Also showcased on this site is documentation regarding our museum ship, SS Keewatin… now located here in Kingston Ontario, at the ‘Great Lakes Museum’… with particular focus on Canada’s early radio communication on the Great Lakes.
